THE NEXT GENERATION SCHOLARSHIP

PRESENTED BY:

ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is to honor (1) hard working and dedicated manager with a $2,500 scholarship to go toward their education. We recognize this is a small token in comparison to the hours spent within your programs - like you however, we also recognize - every little bit counts.

The National Association of Collegiate Basketball Managers (NACBM)  was founded in 2011 in an effort to provide college basketball managers a platform to network with an endgame of assisting with post-education careers. Our purpose is to unify and network managers across the United States, bring managers together on issues in the game of basketball and communicate ways to be successful both in the game and out. Labeled appropriately as "The Team Behind The Team", our goal is to ensure the operation of the program runs smoothly and to put those around us in a position to succeed. The job description is dirty, the hours are long, the recognition is little: That's who we are.

FastModel Sports has developed the industry’s best coaching software products, including FastDraw, the #1 Play Diagramming and Playbook Software, and created incredible brand loyalty. Our clients include all U.S. professional teams, 85% of D1 college teams, and 8,000+ high school and youth teams from over 75 countries.

FastModel Sports Culture is Key: This is what drives our employees to work each day and keeps them here. What differentiates us is our passion for building and innovating great products. We empower our employees to work independently and expect high quality in return, instituting new ideas, speaking up, and pushing back on the status quo.

We’ve played the game. We’ve coached just like you. We have passionate ideas about what’s possible in the world of basketball. Our passions have led us to create experiences and realities that expand our own limits and inspire the coaches and athletes around us.

The dedication, loyalty and behind the scenes hard work of a college basketball manager is unprecedented. Managers are unwavering confirmation that "the little things" do in fact matter.

Basketball has meant so much to all of us in different ways. You are in fact the Next Generation of the game.

Applications must be submitted to the NACBM by Friday, March 22nd, 2019 by 5PM EST. Due to vetting procedures, applications will not be accepted after this date and time. Managers are never late though - so we know this won't be an issue.

STEP 1. Complete an  Information Cover Form . This form is informational and is your intent to submit a complete application. This can be filled out at any time (today even) prior to completing the rest of your application below. Upon completion you will receive a confirmation email within 24 hours that informs you of your completion of this step and will outline next steps, also defined below. This form can be found HERE.

PLEASE TRY NOT TO PIECE MAIL ITEMS. IF YOU NEED HELP, PLEASE LET US KNOW.

NACBMANAGERS@GMAIL.COM

STEP 2. Complete a "Why Me" Essay that explains to our committee why this scholarship should be gifted to you. We know how unselfish you typically are - it comes with the job - this is your time to let loose. Tell us what this would mean to you, how the game of basketball has transcended your vision of life and why you're the right choice to represent this first ever scholarship. Why you? Make your case.  No longer than 1,000 words. Attach as a PDF file.

STEP 3. Submit a Short-Video explaining your role as a manager, what you bring to the table every day, and how your role specifically impacts your program. Yes, the little things matter. We won't judge how small the job is - just that you do it - and you do it well. We simply want to hear your story. A few questions to help guide you: What do you do every day that deserves our attention? What separates you? Would those around you agree?

Don't be afraid to duplicate some of your "why me" essay verbiage in this video. How will you stick out? *Note that this does not need to be professionally filmed (as resources for all are not equal) and review will be based on merit and a comprehensive review of your application. No longer than five minutes.

STEP 4. Submit Two letters of Recommendation addressed to “The Next Generation Committee”. We're open to who these are from - a few suggestions: a fellow or former manager that you've worked with, a member of your coaching staff, athletic department staff or professors also work. These can be anyone - just make sure they're relevant to what we're trying to understand: who you are and why you deserve this. You know best who can help you define your story. Attach as PDF files.
